The skiing in Switzerland is often said to be some of the best in Europe, if not in the world. But it can be difficult to know where to go for your snowy getaway. Grindelwald
This is right in the heart of the most stunning peaks of the Swiss Alps. The valley is picturesque, and the skiing majestic. But this is a relaxed resort, and there are rarely the queues that you may experience in other of the big resorts in the region. Ski below the Eiger and the Wetterhorn on some awe inspiring runs that seem to go on for miles, and you will remember why you learned to ski in the first place.
St. Moritz
Another for lovers of glitz and glamour, why not jet off to St. Moritz and hobnob with the rich and famous? This chic and expensive resort offers some of the best on and off piste skiing in the country, and you can get here by train, or by private plane to the airfield in nearby Samedan if you don’t wish to mix with the hoi polloi.
Veysonnez
This resort links in with over 400km of ski routes in the ‘Four Valleys’ area, but it is an excellent resort for those who wish to stay in a charming and relatively unspoiled village and you are unlikely to face any crowds or queues. The French speaking village, around two hours from Geneva, is quieter than bigger resorts, but gives access to so much skiing, on and off piste, that you could stay there all winter.
