This city has a history dated back in prehistoric era. 2) Literature, art and music- The calmness of this island has inspired many artists, writers and musicians who have spent a lot of time here and have created their masterpieces. Spanish artist Joan Miró chose this place as his home in 1954, and got married here. His works are kept in Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation in Palma.

The famous composer Chopin spent the winter of 1838-39 in Valldemossa and was inspired to finish the Preludes, Op 28 here. He was accompanied by the talented French writer George Sand. It is believed that the affair between Chopin and Sand had blossomed on these serene lands. Sand wrote about her time in Mallorca in ”A Winter in Mallorca” which was published in 1855.

The English writer Robert Graves went to his graves in Deià on this land after living on the island for many years. Agatha Christie too is believed to be inspired by the beauty of this island and wrote a short story about her stay here.

3) Mountains- The ones who love to trek and wander around, ”The Serra de Tramuntana” is the perfect place for biking or hiking. It is a world heritage site declared by UNESCO and the day spent in the mountain range will fill your soul with tranquillity and peace.
